The Tara Tarini temple is located on the Kumari hills along the bank of Rushikulya. The Twin Goddesses Tara and Tarini are worshiped at the temple as manifestations of Adi Shakti. The Taratarini Hill Shrine is one of the oldest pilgrimage centers of the Mother Goddess and is one of four Adi Shakti Peethas in India.
In order to develop Tara Tarini Pilgrimage, a passenger Ropeway on the mountain of Kumari hills has been installed, so that more and more pilgrims can visit and enjoy the beauty and holiness of the Kumari Hill with ease and joy. The first inclined Ropeway of Orissa made by Usha Breco Ltd from Taratarini Foothill to Top hill Temple Place with a capacity of 150PPH with 4nos. closed Cabins.

Places of Interest Around Mansadevi RopewayHar Ki Pauri This is the main attraction point for all the pilgrims & tourists coming to Hardwar. At this very place lies Bharhmakund, a place where Amrit is said to have fallen. All tourisits coming to Hardawr make it a point to have a dip in the sacred water of Bhramakund, which is believed to rid people of their present & past sins. Ganga Aarti- Every Morning & Evening at sunrise & sunset Ganga Aarti is performed at the Ghats of Har ki Pauri. The spectacular evening Aarti at Har ki pauri is popular worldwide. During Aarti, the water of the sacred river Ganga shines from the lights of burning lamps and the burning diyas floated by the devotees. Maya Devi Temple This temple is located in the centre of the city and is considered as one of the Siddha peethas. The temple is dedicated to Mata Sati. Maya Devi is known as the Aadhishatri Devi of Hardwar thus highly revered by the locals.\ Daksh Mahadev Temple The ancient temple of Daksha Mahadev is situated in the south Kankhal town. Mythology is that King Daksha Prajapati, father of Mata Sati, performed yagya at this place. As he did not invite Lord Shiva, Mata Sati felt insulted. Therefore she burnt herself in the yagya Kund present here. This place speaks of this legend. Sapt Rishi Ashram & Sarovar It is said that Ganga had split herself in seven currents at this place so that the Sapt (seven) Rishis worshipping there are not disturbed. Patanjali Yogpeeth It has become one of the important pilgrim destinations since its inception. With state of the art infrastructure and facilities it attracts both tourists and herbal therapy seekers. Shanti kunj This institution is run by Gayatri Parivar, a social organization. The organization takes it’s inspiration from the Gayatri Mantra. The place attracts tourists & Cultural enthusiasts. Other famous temple includes Bharat Mata temple, Dudadhari temple, Vaishno Mata Temple & Paawan Dham. Rishikesh ( 24 km) Around 24 kms away from Hardwar, Rishikesh is one of the best located pilgrimage centres along the banks of river Ganga. Rishikesh gives the tourist a breathtaking experience of natural beauty. Also to mention is the peace and tranquillity of a landscape associated with ‘munis’ and meditation. Today Rishikesh has become a centre for learning and research on yoga and meditation- the renowned Indian methods for mental and physical health. Neelkanth Mahadev: (38km) Thousands of devotees visit Neelkanth Mahadev throughout the year. It is situated on the summit of the mountain across the sacred Ganga River. According to mythology, this is the place where Lord Shiva drank the venom produced during ‘Sagar Manthan’ which turned his throat blue, and hence, it came to be known as Neelkanth. Mahadev and Neelkanth are names given to Lord Shiva. It is situated 38km from Haridwar. Rajaji National Park Haridwar is also a popular destination for nature and adventure lovers. The Rajaji National Park spreads across an area of 820 sq. km., attracts wildlife lovers with its pristine scenic beauty and rich bio diversity. Three sanctuaries of the Shivalikrange viz; Rajaji, Motichur and Chilla were amalgamated into a large protected area and named Rajaji National Park in the year 1983. It has 23 species of mammals and 315 species of avifauna. One could get the exciting sight of the carefree movement of wild elephants or for that matter, other inhabitants like tigers, leopards, jungle cats, Himalayan yellow throated martens, sambers, cheetal, barking deer, wild boar, langoor, ghural, sloth beer, king cobra, woodpecker, etc. The river shelters fish in abundance. Dehradun (55 km) Dehradun is the town associated with important Defence & Government Organisations. Mussoorie (90km) Known as the ‘Queen of hills’, Mussoorie is a well-known leisure destination and a hot favourite with domestic as well as foreign tourists. It is set in the foothills of Himalayas in the Dehradun district of Garhwal region in Uttarakhand state. It’s picturesque surroundings featuring varied flora and fauna, and fantastic weather conditions attract nature lovers throughout the year. Situated just 85kms from Haridwar, Mussoorie is set at an elevation of 2005 mts above sea level.. New Tehri: (98 km) New Tehri is the only planned town of Uttarakhand state which was made during the construction of the Tehri Dam. New Tehri is very well connected with motorable roads. Dev prayag(99 km) Devprayag is the sacred confluence of the two holy rivers Bhagirathi and Alaknanda, and is one of the five confluences of Alaknanda River and the origin of Ganga River thus making its waters holier. Devprayag is the seat of the pundits of Badrinath Dham. Dev Prayag is at an elevation of 472mts above sea level and is located 99kms ahead of Haridwar on NH58 connecting BadrinathDham.
